Our Walker Room is a place for children during an exciting period of
development. They will enter the room either crawling or starting to walk, trying some finger feeding, and beginning to
drink from a cup. Another key part of your child’s life at
this stage is socialization. The Walker classroom is a bit
more structured than the Infant room because at this age
children are becoming more set in their routines. You will
receive a schedule that your child will follow in our room.
You will also receive a daily record of your child’s day and
we post a daily message board. Please feel free to stop by or
call at any time to see how your child’s day is going. We do
weekly lesson plans based on the PA Early Learning Standards.
The children have opportunities for art, music, and science
experiences.
Your child will have begun trying
simple finger foods prior to entering our room. We are happy
to still give them jar food, yogurt, etc. We will provide a
time in the morning and afternoon for any child who still
takes a bottle. Please bring a sippy cup which we will keep
here. We use the sippy cup with lunch and snack. We do provide
appropriate items for snack, but you are welcome to bring
things that your child likes to eat. Your child’s
lunch box (with their name on it) goes in the refrigerator
when you come in each day. Please ask staff if you need food
suggestions.
Wipes and diapers are to be
brought in at the beginning of the month unless otherwise
noted by the teachers. Diaper ointments should be brought in
if needed. Please bring in at least two full sets of weather
appropriate extra clothing (including socks). The children
will also need shoes and sunscreen for when we play outside.
Your child will sleep in a crib until age one at which time
they will sleep on a mat on the floor. Please provide a sheet
for the crib or mat and whatever sleeping aid (blanket, doll,
pacifier, etc.) you child may need. Please make sure all the
items brought into the center have your child’s name on
them. This includes all food items, clothing, blankets,
pacifiers, and cups.
