The Toddler Room days are filled with lots of laughter, learning and lots
of exploration. You will receive a weekly lesson
plan showing activities and themes we have planned. Your
child’s daily schedule is posted in the classroom. We have a
picture schedule for the children to use. We use the Toddlers
Pennsylvania Learning Standards for Early Childhood as a
guide. The center is part of the Keystone STARS program.
The children have opportunities for art, music, and
science experiences. When
you pick up your child at the end of the day, your child’s
teacher will give you a daily chart. This chart will tell you
about meals eaten, number of diaper changes or potty times,
length of nap time, a note if supplies are needed, and a
summary of your child’s day. We also have a daily message
board outside the classroom.
Each child will have his/her own locker in the room. We ask that you keep
at least two changes of seasonal clothes and diapers in
the locker at all times. Please supply one box of wipes at the
beginning of each month. The children take their naps on a cot
in the room and will need a sheet (portable crib or twin),
blanket and a favorite “sleepy-time” item. These items
will be sent home once a week for you to wash and return. If
your child has a special “security” item, such as a
blanket, stuffed animal or doll, we encourage you to send it
in with him/her.
Healthy snacks, milk and juice are provided by the Center.
The teachers eat lunch and snacks with the children,
modeling good table manners. When you arrive in the morning,
please place your child’s labeled lunch box or bag in the
refrigerator.
